Not to be confused with a power plant like Three Mile Island, Aalo Atomics builds small, factory-made nuclear power plants intended to power artificial intelligence data centers. And the company will renovate a current 204,000-square-foot warehouse in Georgetown to set up its manufacturing operation. It will include a machine shop and production floor space for the company.
Community Impact reports the $25 million project is expected to break ground in November and be completed by early 2028,
Founded in 2023, Aalo successfully started a self-sustaining nuclear reaction with its Critical Test Reactor (CTR). The CTR was built in less than eight months.
The ultimate goal is to mass-produce Aalo pods to provide constant, clean electricity to the energy-intensive data centers that run AI.
