Microsoft is holding a Windows Surface event for 2026 in the coming weeks according to a new report, where the company is expected to share more details about the new Surface Laptop Ultra powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark system-on-a-chip.
The Surface Laptop Ultra was officially revealed back on June 2, and at the time Microsoft shared more than a few details about the tech of its upcoming flagship laptop PC, but it didn’t mention anything about the price, the launch date, the pre-order date, regional availability, or anything really related to the launch of the device. Microsoft did confirm it runs on the RTX Spark platform, and that it offers “all-day battery life” as well as a really bright display.
On top of that, the display is 15 inches in size and uses mini-LED panel tech, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. A lot of details are still left out though. Such as memory and storage options, how many ports there are, what colors the laptop comes in and much more.
The 2026 Windows Surface event is happening on October 7
Microsoft has reportedly sent out invites to the upcoming event on October 7, where Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Microsoft VP of Windows and Devices Pavan Davuluri will be speaking. It’s reported that topics of discussion at the event will include the future of Windows, Surface, RTX Spark, and the “broader PC ecosystem,” which has led to suspicion that more details will be shared about the upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra beyond what Microsoft shared back in June.
Following the initial announcement for the Surface Laptop Ultra, Microsoft also announced the Surface Laptop 8 and the Surface Pro 12 in mid-June, over a week after the other device. These are both powered by the Snapdragon X2processor, with prices for the Surface Laptop 8 starting at $1,599.99.
