The real name of Apple’s upcoming foldable has just surfaced, along with plenty more information. The name won’t be the iPhone Ultra, as Apple is seemingly going for the ‘iPhone Duo’ name instead.
The information comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who is a very reliable source. This phone will become official later today, as many of you know. Apple’s event will kick off at 10 AM PST / 7 PM CET.
iPhone Duo will be the name of Apple’s first foldable, and its price leaked as well
The tipster had plenty more to say about the phone, actually. He also shared the price that awaits us – $1,999. That is a lower price than many sources predicted, but it’s still very expensive, needless to say. It will cost more than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which starts at $1,899.
It is said that Apple is eating some of the cost of recent memory component price increases to keep the price of its first foldable right below the $2,000 level.
This phone’s colors have also been reported by Gurman. He claims that the phone will arrive in White and Dark Blue colors. The tipster also shared when we can expect the phone to become available.
The phone will become available “as early as October”
Gurman says that the iPhone Duo will “go on sale as early as October”, though the exact release date was not noted. So it will seemingly become available after the iPhone 18 Pro series, as expected.
The Apple Pencil could be a part of the fun after all. The Apple iPhone Duo is now said to support it.
We’ll get a lot more information about the phone later today, during Apple’s event. In addition to the iPhone Duo, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will also become available. The iPhone 18 is not expected to arrive until next year. One rumor even claims it will be replaced by the iPhone Air 2, but take that with a grain of salt.
