iRobot Corp has shown the Roomba Duo, its first concept of a dual-unit robot vacuum and mop, at IFA 2026. The system is designed to combine the powerful cleaning of a wet-dry vacuum in the convenience of a robot vacuum. It includes a main robot that vacuums and steam-mops and a smaller companion robot. Both robots share the same home map and use an autonomous mobile dock. This allows them to work together and handle home cleaning more efficiently.

iRobot says the Roomba Duo has a unique capability: the main robot can carry and deploy a secondary unit. It has a mechanical arm on top that stays level while moving, allowing it to safely carry the companion robot. The main robot can then place the smaller unit in tight spaces that it cannot reach on its own.
According to iRobot’s Adam Pope, the main robot is the most powerful vacuum that iRobot has made. The cleaning power is apparently close to that of an upright vacuum. It can also steam-mop floors using a large roller mop that applies 46 newtons of downward pressure. The Duo can even handle solid spills.
The two robots connect through the Roomba Home App and share the same home map. The main robot handles large, open areas, while the slimmer companion robot cleans under furniture, in narrow spaces, and other hard-to-reach areas. This allows the Duo to cover more of the home during a single cleaning session. iRobot says this brings a new level of intelligence to home cleaning.
High-performance motor and a large-capacity battery
The main robot’s cylindrical design allows it to house a wet-and-dry cleaning system, a high-performance motor, and a large-capacity battery. Its 60mm PowerSpin Max Roller Mop applies 46N (around 4.7kg) of pressure to scrub floors, while strong suction picks up pet hair, crumbs, and everyday dirt.
As a pre-treatment, an internal heater generates controlled steam to loosen tough, dried-on grime before a self-cleaning roller washes it away. A hot-air drying component then helps dry the floor and protect wooden surfaces from prolonged moisture.
The companion robot is based on iRobot’s Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot, launched earlier in 2026. At just 8.35cm tall and 29.8cm wide, it can move between dining chairs and clean under low beds, sofas and TV cabinets where larger robot vacuums may struggle. Its PerfectEdge mop pad extends up to 31mm, while an edge-sweeping brush helps clean corners, walls and baseboards. It also has omni-wheels that are air-lifted so it to climb thresholds of up to 3.5cm so it can move from room to room without getting stuck.
No price or release date yet
The ClearView Pro dual-line LiDAR and PrecisionVision AI help it map the home, detect obstacles, and navigate around them. Big 17cm hub-motor wheels help it move smoothly between rooms, and the shared AutoWash dock takes care of maintenance. It automatically washes and dries the mops, handles clean and dirty water and dumps dust into a large bag for months of hands-free use. The iRobot Roomba Duo is a concept, and there is no price or release date at this time.
