
Amazon has a grading permit and has started site work on a proposed 223,285-square-foot distribution facility at 2801 CR 172 in Round Rock. The delivery warehouse will be part of 149 acres the company purchased in 2021. Amazon is expecting to spend as much as $72 million on the warehouse distribution center. As many as 200 workers may be employed at the warehouse. Vertical construction is expected before the end of 2025 with move-in expected in 2026. Plans also mention a data center may be part of the 149 acre site.
The company also boasts an existing distribution center in Round Rock that is much larger, spanning 442,000 square feet at 3100 Chisholm Trail Road. Amazon has upward of 90 warehouse properties in Texas.
One of the largest Amazon warehouses in the world, the HOU6 fulfillment center was opened in Houston in 2021. The 3.7-million-square-foot warehouse has 3,000 employees and the capacity to store over 40 million packages.
