Household appliances like washers are meant to be functional. They have one job to do. But who says they need to look ugly? Why can’t they be aesthetically pleasing, right? Well, Samsung’s got you covered. At IFA 2026, Samsung unveiled its new AI washers, which not only look good, but are smarter as well.
Samsung unveils new AI washers at IFA
Starting with the design, Samsung has made its new AI washers “flatter.” Samsung has acknowledged that in the past, its previous designs featured more protruding front elements. There’s really nothing inherently wrong with such a design, but the company has pushed its design further to make it more sleek and minimal.
According to the company, “The updated design offers a flat front surface with a more uniform appearance. This creates a cleaner, more sophisticated look that blends naturally into modern interiors and living environments.” But the change in design isn’t just about pure looks, there’s improvements in operability too.
Samsung says the new design features doors with a wider opening angle. This will help make it easier when loading or unloading laundry. Admittedly these are things we might not necessarily take into consideration. However, it’s good to know that it’s there.
More efficient washing
In addition to looking good, Samsung hasn’t forgotten what these washers are meant to do: wash clothes. There are two models to choose from. There’s a 10kg model which Samsung claims uses 70% less energy than the “minimum energy efficiency requirement for a Class A rating in Europe.”
Then there’s a 13kg model which boasts a compact 24-inch form factor while featuring a depth of 600mm. This lets homeowners wash larger loads without the washer taking up too much space.
There are also clever features included with these washers, like the Auto Open Door feature. This feature kicks in when the wash cycle is complete. It gradually opens the door to allow moisture from inside the drum to escape, keeping the interior fresh between cycles. They also come with Samsung’s Bubble Shot technology that sprays water throughout the drum to reduce wash time, and Ecobubble, which helps detergent dissolve more quickly and distribute more evenly.
Samsung hasn’t said how much its new washers will cost, so we’ll have to wait and see.
