Upgrading your front door lock no longer means replacing the entire cylinder or making permanent modifications to your entry door. Demonstrating its latest smart home lineup at IFA 2026 in Berlin, SwitchBot officially announced the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo, bringing a complete retrofit entry solution to European households.
The bundle combines three key devices. There are the Lock Ultra Max interior lock, the Keypad Vision Pro exterior reader, and the Hub Mini Matter Enabled. Designed to fit over existing European profile cylinders, Swiss round cylinders, and UK oval cylinders, the interior lock uses an aluminum-alloy housing with brushed stainless-steel details that mounts over your current key, leaving the door’s outer appearance untouched.
High-speed motor performance and 19 unlock methods
Under the hood, the interior lock does not resort to traditional turning mechanisms. Instead, it mounts an UltraDrive brushless motor running at 160 rpm—delivering 3.2 times the rotation speed of previous models. Users can toggle between Max Mode to complete unlocking in just 1.1 seconds with over 9 kg of turning force. There’s also Quiet Mode for discreet, low-noise operation during late hours.
The exterior Keypad Vision Pro expands access options dramatically, giving household members up to 19 different entry methods. For contactless entry, near-infrared palm vein recognition reads internal vein patterns inside your hand. This offers a reliable biometric choice for kids or anyone with dry or dirty fingers. The system also projects over 30,000 infrared points to build a millimeter-level 3D facial map that unlocks in under a second while preventing photo or video spoofing attempts.
For daily flexibility, users can also rely on standard fingerprint scanning, PIN passcodes, NFC cards, physical keys, smartwatches, voice assistants, or geofenced auto-unlocking.
Triple-layer power backup and local privacy controls
To prevent lockouts during power failures, the main lock incorporates a three-tier power system. A 4,200mAh main rechargeable battery provides up to nine months of typical use, backed up by an independent CR123A battery capable of handling 500 emergency cycles. If both batteries run completely dry, a Micro-Power Unlock feature harvests residual energy to offer 30 seconds of emergency power up to five times, while the exterior keypad uses its own 5,000mAh battery lasting up to 12 months.
On the security side, biometric data stays processed and stored locally on the hardware using AES-128 encryption. The included Hub Mini adds Matter-over-Bridge functionality, letting users link door events with ecosystems like Apple Home and Home Assistant while managing weather alerts and door status directly in the app.
The official pre-order window following the SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro launch opens September 3, 2026. It will be available across SwitchBot’s European and UK websites at an MSRP of €339.99 / £339.99. Early buyers will get a free one-year extended warranty package.
