Samsung is bringing the One UI 9 beta program to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 clamshell smartphone. The phone is now receiving its first major One UI software test build based on Android 17. The company has started the rollout in South Korea at the moment, following a similar update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 variant.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 owners can join the One UI 9 beta program through the official members app
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable smartphone and live in South Korea, then you can sign up for the One UI 9 beta program. First, you need to install the official members app on your smartphone. After logging in with your account, a banner for the One UI 9 beta will display on the phone’s screen. Tapping the banner allows you to register your device for the latest firmware upgrade.
After enrolling, the new software update will show up in your phone’s system Settings under the update menu. You’ll just need to check for updates and download the new firmware upgrade file. It’s worth mentioning to make sure your phone’s battery has at least a thirty percent charge before you kick off the installation process.
The new software represents the first major OS update for the clamshell
The Android 17-based One UI 9 is the first major operating system update for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung originally launched the flagship offering with One UI 8 based on Android 16. The new firmware brings a handful of new features but also bugs. While trying out the new features is fun, early test updates are usually unstable.
The company has mentioned that the beta version will likely have software bugs and occasional performance problems. If you are still eager to test the new One UI 9 features, then it’s advisable that you don’t install the update if the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is your daily driver.
After South Korea, the beta update will eventually reach more markets for Galaxy Z Flip 7 users. Notably, Samsung has also launched the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 in South Korea.
