The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now getting the latest Android security patch, the one for August 2026. The update has started to pop up in Korea, but it will quickly spread to other markets if it hasn’t already.

This update delivers 56 security fixes to the Galaxy S22 series phones. That includes the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, in case you were wondering. The firmware versions are S901NKSS9GZH3, S906NKSS9GZH3, and S901NKSS9GZH3, respectively.
Out of those 56 fixes, 38 come from Google, while the remaining 18 have been provided by Samsung. Google’s fixes include 8 critical-priority fixes and 30 high-priority fixes. Samsung’s fixes include 2 high-priority fixes, 14 moderate-priority fixes, and 2 fixes with undisclosed priority levels.
Your phone will let you know once this update drops, but you can always check manually if you’d like. Go to Settings -> Software update -> Download and install to check. That does not guarantee you’ll get the update sooner, but it could speed things up slightly if the update is already rolling out in your region.
This update is all about security
This update also seems to be all about security. Samsung did not list any bug fixes or new features, so it’s probably all about the security. We do tend to stumble upon something else that changed post-update, something that Samsung didn’t mention, so that’s always an option.
The update will spread to many more markets gradually, but it won’t be a slow rollout. It only takes up to a couple of weeks for everyone to get the update, usually. By the time you’re reading this, it’s easily possible that Samsung has started rolling out the update in additional markets. If not, it will happen very soon, as is usually the case with such updates.
