Another day, another Pixel bug. We recently wrote about the Video Boost bug and about unexpected app crashes. Well, now users are reporting that their Pixel 11 devices are waking up without being touched.

A Reddit user mentioned the issue after noticing that his Pixel 11 Pro is repeatedly waking up while sitting on a table. He then proceeded to mess with the wake settings and realized that the issue stopped after he disabled the ‘Lift to check phone’ option.
A bunch of other users replied, claiming they have the same exact problem. Disabling the ‘Lift to check phone’ feature is not a solution, of course. That’s just a temporary step until Google actually fixes the problem.
Quite a few users reported the same exact problem while their phones were sitting on various surfaces. This is not exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro, by the way; it seems like other Pixel 11 devices are having the same problem.
One commenter said that a sharp turn while driving was also enough to wake the phone. There is also at least one report that mentions similarly sensitive behavior on a Pixel 9 Pro. Other than that, the reports include the Pixel 11 series.
This seems to be a calibration issue
This seems to be a calibration issue. The phone is overly sensitive and wakes up the display on its own, basically, when realistically it should do so only when you lift the phone. That’s a major calibration miss, actually.
Google has been contacted, though a comment still hasn’t come through. This is just one in a line of Pixel 11 issues reported recently. Google is working on fixes for pretty much every other issue, so this one will hopefully be fixed in the next update as well.
