As a middle finger to Elon Musk, the creators of Cards Against Humanity are building a monument to annoy him in the middle of the company town he’s building at the edge of Texas. Already, ideas for what to put up are pouring in.
Just across the U.S.-Mexico border on the southern tip of Texas sits Starbase, a SpaceX rocket development and launch facility that’s also a municipality. It’s a modern company town of about 500 people that’s mostly home to SpaceX employees who voted last year to incorporate (SpaceX’s vice president of Texas test and launch is mayor), but it has one unfriendly neighbor in the middle of town.
Near the part of Starbase where SpaceX executive housing is located, the company behind Cards Against Humanity owns about one acre of land, which it purchased with crowdfunded money back in 2017 to block construction of a border wall. Now, it’s employing that crowdfunding strategy in service of a new goal: an anti-Musk monument.

All it takes to join the design committee for the monument—officially titled the “Official Elon Musk is a Sad Little Bitch with No Friends Monument Design Committee”—is $10, and ideas are already coming in.
“We haven’t officially requested ideas from the committee yet, but a lot of excited people have sent us their thoughts,” a Cards Against Humanity representative tells Fast Company.
So far, ideas including turning Musk’s email chains with Jeffrey Epstein into a billboard or making phallic jokes since the area’s now a rocket launch site. They’re also open to the idea of working with an artist or someone who knows the area well or has a background or body of work particularly tailored to annoy Musk.
“We’re going to take the proper amount of time and care to make sure we do this right. We’re going to design a monument that our committee can be proud of, and hopefully, spark a moment of introspection for Elon,” the representative says.

Before Cards Against Humanity bought its acre in the area previously known as Boca Chica Village, SpaceX had begun buying up plots of land in the area beginning in 2012. While SpaceX paid locals for their property, Cards Against Humanity isn’t selling.
Tens of thousands of people have signed up to join the committee, according to Cards Against Humanity, and the company is also putting 10% of sales from new products towards the monument, including their Super Box with 300 new cards for 2026, and packs like the Bad Billionaires Pack and Big Balls Pack.
Cards Against Humanity sued SpaceX over violating “No Trespassing” signs on its land and using their property as a dumping ground for construction materials, debris, and equipment. The space company reached a settlement with the card game company over the suit last year, but with a monument poking fun of Musk on its way, Cards Against Humanity still hasn’t had the last laugh.
