Samsung has come to the IMID 2026 Expo in Busan, South Korea this week to showcase a plethora of different display technologies that the company has been working on, and that includes a new 300Hz OLED panel that’s intended for use in gaming laptops. Samsung reportedly claims this is the first 300Hz OLED panel for laptops in the world, though it isn’t using this panel in any laptops that are available on the market just yet.
In addition to this new laptop display, Samsung also showed off a new 7.6-inch wide view foldable OLED panel meant for folding phones and other devices with foldable displays. This new panel is designed to solve the issue with brightness degradation that happens at the folding portion of the screen. One piece of display Samsung had available for viewing was a vertical sliding display meant for in-car infotainment centers.
Samsung’s new 300Hz OLED laptop display is a first of its kind
Laptop displays with a 300Hz refresh rate, or even faster refresh rates exist. Gaming laptops displays made from an OLED panel exist. But what reportedly doesn’t exist, is a 300Hz OLED panel for laptops that has a 2.5K resolution, making what Samsung has brought to IMID 2026 a first of its kind, Samsung claims.
Samsung says this display has a 16:9 aspect ratio. Beyond this, Samsung is staying tight-lipped on other details about this display. The company doesn’t offer up any information on what laptops might use this display in the future. Nor does it mention if it even plans to release it or if it’s just meant as a frame of reference to showcase that this kind of tech for laptop displays is possible. Samsung doesn’t make gaming laptops, so a release of this display panel would likely be to fulfill the needs of other brands.
