The Nissan Xterra is a body-on-frame SUV that, for all of its weaknesses, was always a very capable and affordable option for those who could turn a blind eye to the poor handling characteristics and below-average crash safety scores. After debuting for the 2000 model year, the Nissan Xterra endured two generations, which in turn both went through a single facelift each, and wound up enjoying a full 15 years in production.
