Samsung could change up the camera design on the Galaxy S27 series and thus finally put an end to the wobble effect. The company’s latest WIPO patent filing points in that direction, even though it doesn’t confirm anything just yet.
Samsung could solve the tabletop wobble with a new, horizontal camera design
If you take a look at the images below, you’ll see the alleged camera design. The company is exploring a design with a horizontal camera setup, with three cameras included in the camera bar. This is kind of reminiscent of what Google has been using on its Pixel devices for years now.
Based on this patent filing, those cameras also won’t protrude on the back all that much. This could have other benefits, other than eliminating the tabletop wobble. It could improve magnetic accessory compatibility due to added space on the back.
Do note that this patent filing is in no way related to the Galaxy S27 series. It’s just a random patent filing by Samsung, and it doesn’t mean the company will use this design for the Galaxy S27 series, or any other phone, in fact.
It’s about time Samsung does this
However, it’s about time Samsung changed up the design a bit. This change would not only give it a fresh look, but it would eliminate one of the most annoying design traits of the Galaxy S26 series, and many other phones in the company’s lineup, including the all-new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra handsets.
If not with the Galaxy S27, the company would put this into motion further down the line. If the Galaxy S27 series gets skipped, the Galaxy Z Fold 9 series could embrace the change. We can only guess at this point.
It’s also worth noting that Samsung used something like this in the past on the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy S10 series phones were the last to have a horizontal camera setup when it comes to the Galaxy S series. Those phones arrived back in 2019.
