Samsung is getting its next wave of high-end tablets ready for prime time. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 series just popped up on Google Play Console’s supported devices list, marking another major step toward an official release. This new database sighting comes after recent Bluetooth SIG certifications and regional filings. These developments confirm that the new lineup will focus on two distinct flagship tiers: the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the top-tier Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra.
Breakdown of model numbers and connectivity variants
The Google Play Console entry shows multiple regional models for both screen sizes (via Phonearena). They clearly separate standard Wi-Fi configurations from cellular variants. For the Galaxy Tab S12+, the Wi-Fi-only model carries the codename “gts12pwifi” and model number SM-X840. Meanwhile, 5G variants fall under the codename “gts12p” with regional model designations SM-X846B, SM-X846E, SM-X846N, and the US-bound SM-X848U recently spotted in FCC documentation.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra follows the exact same pattern across its different configurations. Its Wi-Fi version uses the codename “gts12uwifi” and model number SM-X940. The cellular 5G builds adopt the codename “gts12u” alongside model numbers SM-X946B and SM-X946N, which previously turned up in South Korean filings and India’s BIS registry.

Expected hardware features and launch timing
While Google’s listing focuses primarily on software compatibility, early supply chain reports suggest meaningful hardware updates under the hood. Industry rumors indicate the Tab S12 family could run on MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9500 chip.
On the hardware side, the Tab S12 Ultra is tipped to retain its massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel paired with an 11,600mAh battery. The Tab S12+ could stick with a 12.4-inch display and a 10,600 mAh cell, keeping the same physical dimensions as its predecessor.
Samsung previously confirmed during an earnings report that it plans to unveil its next premium tablet family in the second half of 2026. Given that the previous Tab S11 lineup debuted in September, tech watchers expect Samsung to announce the new hardware around the same late-summer window, potentially alongside IFA in Berlin.
