The Pixel 11 series is going to come with a feature that so far everyone has been calling ‘Pixel Glow,’ but earlier this week a rumor surfaced claiming that Google would actually be calling this feature ‘HiLight.‘ Over the past few days, several leaks have surfaced for all of Google’s upcoming new devices containing marketing images that showed off the designs as well as described or teased a few features. One of those was HiLight, only none of those leaks contained an actual name.
A new leak has now surfaced containing another one of those leaked marketing images, this time from well-known leaker Roland Quandt on Bluesky. Quandt’s leak confirms that Google will be using HiLight as the official name for this feature. It’s worth noting that the marketing image from this leak is for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a phone that has showed up with the glowing RGB LED in past images. However, Google has teased it on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL as well.

In addition to having a confirmed name for this feature, the marketing image also briefly describes what the feature does. It’ll alert you when your favorite contacts are calling you and when you’re chatting with Gemini and getting a response in those conversations. “Stay informed without looking at your screen. When your smartphone is turned upside down, HiLight discreetly illuminates when your favorite contacts call you or when you chat with Gemini,” the description reads.
This is not quite what RGB LEDs on the front of older Android phones did, at least not in their entirety. Those old lights could be customized, in some cases with color pickers offering plenty of color options, to blink that specific color and tie those custom colors to specific apps. So you ended up with different colors for everything important. The HiLight description doesn’t mention if this is possible in addition to the details that are given.
