Paint the Past Forward
As digitization and AI reshape the world, nostalgia continues to sell, from Hollywood reboots to revived analog products. Aston Martin is tapping into that appeal with five one-off commissions featuring paint colors from the 1960s and 1970s, available exclusively through Aston Martin Newport Beach.
Longtime Aston Martin fans might recognize some of them, while for others, the collection could provide an avenue to learn more about the brand. Dubbed the “Heritage Edition” collection, all five one-offs are based on 2027-model-year vehicles – from the entry-level Vantage to the flagship Vanquish. The limited-series hypercar models, the Valhalla and Valkyrie, are not included.
The Art of Looking Back
The collection was designed by Q by Aston Martin, the British marque’s in-house personalization division, which is similar to Ferrari’s Atelier service that recently unveiled customized Purosangues. Not to digress, the Aston Martin “Heritage Edition” collection consists of throwback colors reinterpreted for the modern era, including Winchester Blue for the Vantage Coupe, Mink Silver for the Vantage Roadster, Pacific Blue for the DB12 Coupe, Pale Primrose for the DB12 Volante, and Tudor Green for the Vanquish Coupe.
Mink Silver was popular on the DB6 during the 1960s, while Winchester Blue is a 1970s shade best known from the original V8 Vantage. Moving to the DB12 colors, Pacific Blue was offered on the DB4, DB5, and DB6, while Pale Primrose appeared on the cover of the 1958 DB4 brochure and was later selected by British die-cast brand Corgi for a model that inspired its iconic James Bond DB5 toy of the mid-1960s. As for the Vanquish Coupe, Tudor Green is closely associated with Aston Martins from the 1970s.
In addition to the vintage hues, all five cars get bespoke perforated and fluted seats, heritage-logo embroidery on the center armrest, and exclusive sill plaques. Meanwhile, the DB12 Coupe, DB12 Volante, and Vanquish add open-pore dark-walnut trim.
One-Off Status Doesn’t Come Cheap
Pricing for the “Heritage Edition” cars wasn’t disclosed, though they are available exclusively through Aston Martin Newport Beach in California. The press release also didn’t mention any powertrain changes, so each should retain its standard powertrain.
For reference, the Vantage starts at more than $190,000, so expect even the least expensive car in the collection to cost considerably more.
