Google has officially released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2 for eligible Pixel hardware, keeping the quarterly update cycle moving forward ahead of an expected stable launch in December 2026. This latest build—carrying build number CP41.260701.006—focuses on subtle visual updates and background stability refinements. It arrives just two weeks after a relatively quiet Beta 1 release.
What is new in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2
Google curiously opted not to provide official release notes for this build. However, hands-on testing by 9to5Google highlights some changes. According to the report, visually, users will spot a newly redesigned Settings app icon. Some testers previously saw this refreshed icon after performing a clean install during the QPR1 beta cycle. However, it is now officially live for everyone on this build. Behind the scenes, the update focuses on general bug fixes and system performance. Google has not published an itemized list of resolved issues, though.
Supported Pixel devices and end-of-life drops
The Beta 2 update is available as an over-the-air (OTA) download for users enrolled in the Android Beta Program. This build is compatible with a number of devices, including Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 series (7, 7 Pro, 7a), Pixel 8 series (8, 8 Pro, 8a), Pixel 9 family (9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a) and Pixel 10 generation (10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, 10a). It’s also available for the Google Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and even the Android Emulator.
That said, the original Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are noticeably absent from the list. As established during the Beta 1 cycle, both devices have officially reached their End of Life (EOL) support window. This means the Android 17 QPR1 beta series was their final software update.
How to report bugs and install
For users currently testing the software, Google encourages submitting feedback and bug reports through the Android Beta Feedback app, which links to Google’s official issue tracker. You can access it directly from your app drawer or Quick Settings tile. Testers can also share findings within the official Android Beta community on Reddit. If you want to try out the update on a compatible Pixel, enrolling your device in the Android Beta Program will deliver the OTA update straight to your system settings.
