The Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro will not match the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera zoom capability. Based on a new report from ETNews, the Galaxy S27 Pro will include a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The Galaxy S27 Pro will have a rather underwhelming telephoto camera
An earlier rumor said that the phone will include a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x or 3.5x optical zoom. Now, it is not stated whether this will be a regular telephoto camera or a periscope telephoto camera, as there’s a bit of a difference. Considering that it’s only a 12-megapixel unit, it could easily be just a regular telephoto camera, unfortunately.
What about the Galaxy S27 Ultra? Well, that phone is said to include a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. That camera will offer 5x optical zoom. Needless to say, it will overshadow what the Galaxy S27 Pro offers.
A well-known tipster also recently said that the ‘Ultra’ model will include three cameras on the back, not four. That’s something that ETNews also mentioned, and thus it makes the info even more solid.
The Galaxy S27 & S27+ will have an even more disappointing telephoto unit
This same report from ETNews also touched upon the base Galaxy S27 model and the Galaxy S27+. It says that the two phones will include a 50-megapixel main camera, along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto snapper (3x optical zoom).
It unfortunately seems like Samsung will stick with that old and small 3x telephoto camera with two out of four Galaxy S27 series smartphones. Samsung seemingly won’t upgrade the camera hardware on base and Plus models for the sixth year in a row.
All four of these phones will become official in the first quarter of next year. Samsung is expected to announce them either in January or February. The launch date has not been rumored yet, but based on past years, that’s what will happen.
