Samsung is rolling out its fourth One UI 9.0 beta software for the Galaxy S26 series. The 1.25GB over-the-air update is currently reaching major global markets, including the UK, South Korea, India, Germany, and Poland, with a US release expected to follow shortly. The Android 17-based One UI 9 beta 4 carries a firmware version that ends in ZZG4 and shifts its focus away from adding flashy new visual gimmicks, focusing instead on system optimization and refining overall platform stability for Galaxy S26 devices.
This particular testing cycle took slightly longer to arrive compared to previous builds. While the second and third betas launched in rapid two-week intervals throughout May and June, Samsung deliberately extended the internal evaluation phase for this fourth package to ensure it addresses critical system issues.
Squashing the interface bugs
According to the changelog (via SamMobile), the engineering team spent a significant amount of time addressing annoying interface quirks that frustrated early adopters. The package fixes an issue where the lock screen clock size would distort or scale incorrectly when users flipped their phones between vertical and horizontal orientations. It also resolves a performance bottleneck that caused noticeable interface stuttering whenever users attempted to slide open the Quick Panel menu.
Gamers will also notice a massive improvement in daily usability. The update patches an elusive bug that caused the default Android navigation bar to completely disappear under specific fullscreen gaming conditions, trapping users inside active apps. Additionally, the software solves stability errors in Live Notifications that previously cut off countdown numbers on system timers.
Routines and security updates
The developers also fixed automation issues within the built-in Routines application. Prior to this release, setting a custom routine to adjust Bluetooth media volume automatically upon connecting to a vehicle’s dashboard system would fail to execute. The update also remedies functional errors where the brand-new physical Privacy Display filter routine would fail to turn on or off properly when toggled through the quick settings drop-down menu.
Finally, the build integrates the absolute latest July 5, 2026 security patch level to ensure device data remains safe.
Preparing for the new foldables
The timing of this release is not coincidental. It’s landing exactly a week before Samsung officially pulls back the curtain on its upcoming flagship foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 series. Those new foldables will ship with the official, retail-ready version of One UI 9.0 right out of the box. So, the development team is treating this Galaxy S26 software push as the final milestone toward achieving total platform stability.
