If you own the Pixel 10, Google recently released an app for your device that might be worth checking out. This comes in the form of the Pixel Audio Services. According to 9to5Google, it’s compatible with all Pixel 10 devices, including the Pixel 10a. Unfortunately, older devices will have to sit this one out.
What is the Pixel Audio Services app?
The first thing to note is that the Pixel Audio Services aren’t really an app that you use, like a regular app. Instead, according to Google, “Pixel Audio Services is a system component that provides the latest updates and bug fixes of audio modules. This component is pre-installed on your device and should be kept up to date to ensure a better audio experience.”
Basically it’s a component app for your Pixel phone. As 9to5Google says, it’s similar to the Pixel Camera Services, which are used to bring Night Sight to supported third-party apps. Essentially, it’s a way for Google to modularly update various parts of its Pixel devices without having to push out massive system-wide updates.
What do users need to do?
As the app’s description states, the app should be preinstalled. It’s also not a front-facing user app. This means that there’s really nothing for users to interact with or use the app. It just sits there and updates related parts of the system where necessary. As Google recommends, users should keep the app updated to ensure a better audio experience.
So once it’s installed, you can just leave it there and forget about it. At least until the next update is available. The Pixel Audio Services app is available via the Play Store in case you want to check it out.
