If we think back to Lincoln a quarter of a century ago, “sporty” certainly doesn’t come to mind. The brand had just started to transition out of its long-standing luxury land-yacht phase, and began to embrace a more European approach to opulent driving, with models like the Lincoln Mark VIII serving as an example. The Mark VIII was designed to be an import-fighting luxury coupe with an athletic side, but it didn’t end up selling very well at all.
