The Fitbit Air is getting an update with bug fixes and improvements that should help the tracker perform better on a day-to-day basis. The Fitbit Air officially launched on May 26 after being revealed on May 7. It’s Google’s latest fitness tracker under the Fitbit brand name and unlike its Pixel Watches or the old Fitbit trackers that have displays, the Fitbit Air is sort of like the Whoop. A tracker with no screen that simply logs a very specific combination of analytics like steps, calories burned, and a handful of other less complex data points.
It still transmits those data points to the Google Health app on your phone, a device with a screen, so you can actually do something with that data. But the tracker itself is meant to be a less invasive device that doesn’t get in the way of your day. With less tech inside of it, you’d think there would be less opportunity for bugs. Alas, we’re never truly free of technical bugs. So, updates like the one Google has started pushing out to users this week are essential.
The Fitbit Air update is all about bug fixes and general stability improvements
There’s no exciting new features here and nothing that’s going to light the world on fire with this update. At least that’s how it seems. As reported by 9To5Google, the Fitbit Air update that started going out this week is about bug fixes and improvements. Those are certainly necessary, but you won’t be getting anything new and fun to play around with or test out.
That may seem a little underwhelming to some users, and it is. Admittedly. However, the bug fixes still ensure that the tracker works as intended, so they’re worth appreciating. As far as what bugs have been fixed, it’s mentioned that a bug that causes “incomplete data in TCX exports for exercises tracked using Fitbit Air and connected GPS and for exercises tracked using multiple devices or apps connected to Google Health” has been fixed.
