Color-shifting paint has existed for decades. For example, Ford offered the 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra with the eye-catching Mystic exterior color that could appear purple or green depending on the angle and how the light hit the body. However, the finish has never become widely popular, possibly because of the extra cost of ordering this special appearance, or because customers just don’t want to draw much attention on the road.
