T-Mobile-owned Mint Mobile is known for its aggressive pricing and for offering just the essentials. If you’re a subscriber (or planning to become one), you’re in for some good news. Mint Mobile has announced that it’s adding more data to its plans for free, without an increase in cost. The company notes that this is the fourth such instance since launch.
Mint Mobile upgrades its plans with more data for free
Mint Mobile offers four different plans, three with data limits and one is unlimited. The data allowances for these were previously capped at 5GB, 15GB, and 20GB. That is now changing. The carrier has now added more data to the plans. The 5GB plan now comes with a 6GB limit, the 15GB plan jumps to 17GB, and lastly, the 20GB tier increases to 23GB.Â
Again, this comes free of cost, with no price hike. That means the base plan is still $15/month, the 17GB tier costs $20/month, and the 23GB option remains $25/month. That said, the carrier is almost always running some promotional offer when you pay for 3, 6, or 12 months.
There’s a promotional offer for new subscribers
Currently, Mint Mobile has an offer for new customers. Those opting to pay for three months get $5 off. This brings down the prices of the plans to $10/month (6GB), $15/month (17GB), $20/month (23GB), and $25/month (unlimited). After three months, subscribers can renew their plans at standard prices. While competitors pack in other perks to make the plans look attractive, Mint Mobile sticks to the basics. All plans offer essential benefits like unlimited talk, text, international calling to Mexico, Canada, and the UK, and data.
As for the unlimited plan, as the name suggests, it offers unlimited data. However, if you end up using over 50GB/month, Mint Mobile says you may notice reduced speeds for the rest of the monthly cycle in some areas during busy network times. This isn’t a deal breaker since deprioritization is common across prepaid carriers operating on large networks.
