Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable will have the highest pixel density out of any book-style foldable from Samsung. The information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster who has shared a ton of information about the phone thus far.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have record-breaking screens thanks to its PPI
He says that the company’s wide foldable, aka Galaxy Z Fold 8, will have a PPI of 432 on the cover display and 403 PPI on the main display. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a 422 PPI on the cover display and a 368 PPI on the main panel.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was also mentioned. That device has a 422 PPI on the cover display and a 268 PPI on the main panel. This, of course, won’t make a major difference in any way, shape or form, but it’s an interesting tidbit.
Samsung’s wide foldable is expected to use the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name, despite the fact it utilizes a different form factor than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s successor is expected to use the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name.
That was confirmed by several sources thus far, including Ice Universe. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name also popped up in a regulatory listing, which only confirmed it, basically. It’s an odd choice for Samsung, but there you go.
Both of these foldables are coming in July
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to arrive in July. July 22 is rumored to be the launch date, as the launch event will allegedly take place in London. That has not been confirmed just yet, though.
Both smartphones are tipped to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. They will both have high-end specs in general. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have one less camera on the back than the ‘Ultra’ model, though.
