The Vivo X500 Ultra could arrive with a periscope telephoto camera boost, as 10x zoom is tipped. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, which is usually spot on when it comes to such information.
In addition to that, another known tipster, Smart Pikachu, said that new teleconverters are coming as well. That was to be expected, but it’s nice to know Vivo won’t give up on those.
The Vivo X500 Ultra to feature a fourth camera with 10x optical zoom
As a reminder, the Vivo X300 Ultra has a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto camera with 3.7x optical zoom and ZEISS T* coating. It is one of the best periscope telephoto cameras on the market. Both considered by many, and according to our testing.
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra, another highly rated camera smartphone, arrived with two periscope telephoto cameras. It has a 200-megapixel 1/1.28-inch periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel 1/2.75-inch periscope telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom.
In all honesty, that 10x camera on the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is the worst camera on the back of the phone. It’s alright, but it cannot measure up to any other camera on the back, and that goes for the cameras on the Vivo X300 Ultra.
Still, it’s nice to have a separate 10x camera on the back. We’re wondering what Vivo’s plans are for the Vivo X500 Ultra. If a 10x camera is coming, there’s a very good chance the company will include four cameras on the back this time around.
That 10x camera will likely be combined with a 3x camera
Having a sole 10x periscope telephoto camera would cripple the phone in a way, as everything from 3x to 10x won’t be properly covered. That’s the most commonly used zoom range, so we doubt that Vivo will ditch it.
If a 10x camera is coming, we’re guessing that Vivo will also include a 3x/3.7x camera. That would be a step in the right direction for Vivo, that’s for sure. It arguably has the most powerful camera hardware at the moment, as a whole, as all three rear cameras are great, with large sensors. Adding another large sensor on the back would certainly benefit the Vivo X500 Ultra.
