According to a new SAG report, Samsung managed to increase its foldable smartphone share globally by quite a bit. This report compares Q1 2025 vs Q1 2026 and reveals the top 3 foldable smartphone OEMs. Let’s get straight into it.
SAG reports that global smartphone shipments actually declined 14% YoY. 3.1 million foldable smartphones were sold in Q1 2026.
Huawei is still the number 1 foldable smartphone OEM, but Samsung is surging
According to the report. Huawei is still the number 1 foldable smartphone OEM out there. Huawei grabbed 40% of the market, compared to 54% a year ago. That’s a 14% decline, which is worrying for Huawei.

Samsung is still second-placed, but it managed to jump from 14% in Q1 2025 to 25% in Q1 2026. That’s a 11% improvement YoY (Year-over-Year), which are great news for the company.
SAG notes that Samsung’s foldable smartphone shipments reached 0.8 million units in Q1 2026. The source also notes that Samsung regained momentum, particularly in premium markets outside of China.
It is also noted that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 promotions in South Korea and Japan were major growth drivers for Samsung. Both North America and Europe also posted strong momentum for Samsung in Q1 2026.
HONOR took third place, and it grew quite a bit YoY
HONOR is third-placed, as it was back in Q1 2025. The company also managed to grow in the last year, however. HONOR’s foldable market share jumped from 11% to 19% in a year.
If you did some quick math, you realized that all the other smartphone OEMs hold 16% of the foldable smartphone market together. That’s a 5% decline compared to a year ago, as the percentage back then was 21%.
It remains to be seen what will happen by the end of the year, but we do have some exciting wide foldables coming soon. Apple’s first foldable smartphone will also be announced this year.
