Samsung has announced a partnership with CLEAR to launch ‘Samsung ID with CLEAR’. It’s available directly in Samsung Wallet. The digital ID is backed by information in your US passport and verified by CLEAR. This allows travelers to verify their identity at more than 250 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints using just their phones with ID in Samsung Wallet.

The goal here is to offer a secure and free mobile digital ID to create a faster, more frictionless traveler experience. With this integration, US passport holders can create and securely store a TSA-approved digital ID in Samsung Wallet for domestic travel and also use it at select sporting venues like BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Samsung Wallet is already a very functional app on Galaxy devices. It serves as a single destination for essential items like payment cards, IDs, passes, digital keys, and more. With the introduction of Samsung ID with CLEAR, it now also supports passports, travel documents, age verification for 21+, and other government use cases.

Available only to US passport holders
To add this, you need a valid US passport and an Android device running Android 9.0 or higher. Now, open the ‘Quick Access’ tab in your Samsung Wallet, tap the plus (+) sign, select “Digital IDs,” and then select the “Samsung ID with CLEAR” option. Click the “Get Card” button and follow on-screen prompts to add your card.
Travelers can verify their identities at airport security checkpoints by simply tapping their Samsung ID with CLEAR. You can glide through airport security by simply tapping your phone or scanning a QR code. Samsung is also prioritizing user security. To access your Digital ID, you need a fingerprint or PIN, and Samsung Knox protects it. The information from your ID is also encrypted directly on-device.
Currently, the feature is only available to US passport holders at select TSA checkpoints. Samsung notes that you may still need a boarding pass for ID verification at the TSA checkpoint.
