YouTube Music is undoubtedly one of the most widely used music-streaming platforms among users worldwide. That’s thanks to its wide set of features, simple user interface, and vast library. Most importantly, the company bundles it with a YouTube Premium subscription. However, it now seems that users are facing an annoying YouTube Music glitch that reportedly stops playback after one song.
YouTube Music glitch reportedly prevents tracks from advancing automatically
Android Authority reports that over the last week, they’ve seen multiple reports of YouTube Music not functioning as it should. The complaints on Reddit and YouTube Music’s support forums note how YouTube Music doesn’t automatically move to the next track once the song is played through.
In a normal situation, YouTube Music automatically plays the next song after one finishes. But that doesn’t seem to be happening now. Making things even worse, tapping the next button apparently does nothing either. The issue seems to be happening for both regular and YouTube Premium subscribers.
However, it doesn’t seem to be fully widespread, as the issue seems to be causing issues mostly for iOS users. But there are some reports from Android users as well. Interestingly, the issue is also affecting CarPlay users as well. Needless to say, this can be really annoying when all you want is to wind down after work and listen to some songs.
There’s a simple workaround
Android Authority reports that they were able to fix the issue by restarting the iPhone. They didn’t apparently encounter it again afterward. However, if this didn’t fix the issue, there’s another potential fix shared by Reddit user iDrinkSaline. For this, open YouTube Music on your iOS device, tap your profile picture, and then head to Settings > Playback and restrictions. Here, toggle on Stream via Wi-Fi only and force close the app entirely. Now, turn off your iPhone’s Wi-Fi for a few seconds and then turn it back on. Open YouTube Music again and try skipping tracks now.
The Reddit user notes this finally helped them to get the app working properly. Considering it’s a simple troubleshooting, it’s worth giving a shot if you’re facing this issue. Google should resolve the issue soon.
