The Xiaomi 17 Max is now official, the company’s new high-end smartphone. This device was teased by Xiaomi quite a few times thus far, and it’s a member of the flagship Xiaomi 17 series of smartphones.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is here, and it looks like an oversized Xiaomi 15
The Xiaomi 17 Max looks like an oversized Xiaomi 15, basically. Yes, Xiaomi 15, not Xiaomi 17, because for some reason, Xiaomi opted to use a camera design from the Xiaomi 15. Its display is flat, with thin uniform bezels and a centered display camera hole up top. The frame is flat, and so is its backplate.
The phone features a 6.9-inch 2608 x 1200 OLED LTPO display. Its refresh rate goes from 1 to 120Hz, and the peak brightness here is 3,500 nits. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content, while the display also supports 1,920Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming. The Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 protects the panel.
It uses Qualcomm’s best chip, and a huge battery
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 fuels this smartphone, while the phone offers 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The device also comes in two storage options: 256GB and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage models are available.
Xiaomi included an 8,000mAh battery on the inside, while the phone supports 100W wired charging. 22.5W reverse wired charging is also supported, but not wireless charging.
Android 16 comes pre-installed here, with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. The phone also includes two nano SIM card slots. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner here (an ultrasonic one), and an IR blaster at the top.
A 200MP main camera is backed by two capable 50MP cameras
The phone has three cameras on the back. The main one is a 200-megapixel unit with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. The ISOCELL HP9 sensor is used with an f/1.65 aperture lens. Hyper OIS is also used here, while a Leica Summilux lens is included.

The second camera is a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, with an f/2.4 Leica lens and a 102-degree FoV. The third camera is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a Leica lens and an f/2.4 aperture. The sensor on the inside is a 1/2-inch one. The aperture is f/2.4, while OIS is supported, and this is also a telemacro camera (15cm).
The Xiaomi 17 Max measures 162.9 x 77.6 x 8.15/8.20mm, while it weighs 219 or 225 grams, depending on the model. The device comes in White, Sky Blue, and Pixel Black variants.
What about the pricing? Well, this phone has been announced in China, and its price starts at CNY4,799 ($705). The most powerful variant is priced at CNY5,799 ($852).
