As the month of May progresses, Samsung is gradually rolling out its monthly update to a range of its Galaxy devices. The latest round of devices receiving the May 2026 security update is the Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22 Plus and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. While this doesn’t bring any new features, it makes the phones more secure against vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the OS.
Galaxy S22Â series receiving May 2026 update with key security fixes
The May 2026 security update to the Galaxy S22 series brings fixes to 36 security issues. The update to the Galaxy S22 weighs 506.30MB in size and reportedly carries the firmware version S90xNKSS9GZE5. The update is currently rolling out in Samsung’s home country, South Korea. Samsung will expand to other countries in the next few days.
Among the 36 fixes, 30 are from Google as part of the Android Security Bulletin. But one of them doesn’t apply to Galaxy devices. The remaining are Samsung-specific fixes. Two of the fixes are marked as Critical, 28 as High, and six as Moderate.
If you don’t see the update hitting your device automatically, you can check for it manually. Head to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The update is live for the Galaxy S26 series in India
Separately, Samsung is also expanding the May 2026 security patch to its latest flagships, the Galaxy S26 series, to more regions. For some back story, the company recently released the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series in the US, the UK, Germany, and South Korea. It also included the May 2026 security update. However, users on One UI 8.5 didn’t reportedly get the new security release. That is changing. Samsung dropped the latest patch in Europe recently and has now started a global rollout.Â
The update is now reportedly reaching India and carries the firmware version AZE2. It’s apparently the same build released in Europe. It reportedly weighs 563MB for the Ultra model. That said, the size and build version may vary by model and market.Â
The May 2026 update for the Galaxy S26 series should gradually expand to more regions, including the US, in the coming days.
