It looks like Spotify users are dealing with yet another annoying bug, and this time, when using the app via CarPlay, it is showing the wrong song info. The track name, artist, and album shown on the screen reportedly differ from what’s actually playing. This can get pretty annoying when you want to listen to music while on the drive. Fortunately, Spotify says it’s aware of the issue and is investigating the issue.
Spotify is investigating the CarPlay bug that displays the wrong song info
There have been multiple complaints from users on the company’s official Community website and on platforms like Reddit. A Reddit user claims two issues, where the album art, titles, and artists get jumbled. “Sometimes CarPlay will show the last song that was played. Sometimes it will show some of the previous songs’ information and some of the current songs (for example, the correct album but the wrong artist, album art, and song title).”
Additionally, the user notes that after restarting the phone and opening Spotify on CarPlay, the screen apparently goes blank with “no interface at all.” Another user on Spotify Community reports a delay when songs transition while using Apple CarPlay. The song details and album artwork are apparently one song behind.
The bug coincides with Spotify’s update last week
The problem seems to coincide with Spotify’s update last week, which also introduced the much-debated disco ball-themed app icon. For what it’s worth, Spotify clarified that the icon will revert to the classic logo sometime this week.
As for the CarPlay bug, the streaming company notes that the “relevant team” is currently looking into it and they will have updates to share in the coming days. Although the company hasn’t mentioned any specific timeline. For now, if you’re facing the issue, using an alternative streaming service can be a practical move.
