Samsung’s software team is spending its days quite busy with One UI 9 development, One UI 8.5 rollout, and even pushing the May 2026 security patch. In the latest, the company is now seeding the May 2026 security update to the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A06 5G. Additionally, the XCover 7 Pro and XCover 6 Pro are also grabbing the update.
Samsung pushes May 2026 security update to Galaxy A57, A06, XCover 6 Pro, and 7 Pro
The Galaxy A57 is currently getting the update in Malaysia, and the Galaxy A06 in India. Meanwhile, the XCover phones are receiving the latest security update in Southeast Asian countries, like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Samsung may expand the update to other regions where the phones are available shortly.Â
The update for the Galaxy A57 and A06 carries the firmware versions A576BXXS2AZE2 and A066BXXS6BZE1, respectively. On the other hand, the update to Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and 6 Pro carries the firmware versions: G766BXXS7BZE2 and G736BXXSCGZE2, respectively.Â
Galaxy users should automatically receive a notification for the update. If not, they can manually check for it on their devices by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The update makes the phones more secure than before
The May 2026 security patch brings fixes to 36 vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the OS. It’s always good to have security vulnerabilities fixed. Among them, 30 are from Google as a part of Android Security Bulletin (one of them doesn’t apply to Galaxy devices). The rest are Samsung-specific fixes. Of the 36 fixes, two are marked as Critical, 28 as High, and six as Moderate.Â
Speaking of updates, the Galaxy A57 already runs One UI 8.5, with Galaxy A06 set to receive it shortly. Although a clear timeline is not available yet.
