The whole selling point of the Trump Mobile T1 smartphone was that it was supposed to be “Made in America.” That’s what the company had promised or hinted at at the start, and now it looks like HONOR has decided to take a dig at the Trump Mobile T1, playfully joking that it’s a “Chinese made gold phone.”
HONOR makes fun of the Trump Mobile T1
In a post on its X account, HONOR took a not-so-subtle dig at the Trump Mobile T1. The company’s social media caption reads, “If you are in the market for a Chinese made Gold phone, may we suggest something a little more… premium? 
” The post was accompanied by an image of the HONOR Magic 8 Pro in its Sunrise Gold finish, which looks a lot better and classier than that gaudy gold-like finish of the T1. But hey, personal preference, right?
However, there’s no denying there is some truth in what HONOR said. Like we said earlier, the T1 was initially supposed to be a phone made in America. However, the irony was that when the phone was first announced, many were quick to point out that it was a rebranded version of the REVVL 7 Pro 5G made by Wingtech, a Chinese company.
The company later removed references to it being made in the US. More recently, it looks like the phone is being assembled in the US. That’s similar to how Apple brands its products as being designed in California, but it’s still made in China. However, Trump Mobile CEO Pat O’Brien said that future phones will feature components primarily made in the States.
That’s still kind of vague, but oh well.
Shipping out now…we hope
The Trump Mobile T1 phone was supposed to have started shipping out last week. The phone was announced last year, but there were a bunch of delays. This led to some concerns that the phone was vaporware. To make matters worse, Trump Mobile had taken $100 deposits from customers hoping to reserve their devices.
But according to O’Brien, one of the reasons for the delay was due to the company attempting to have the phone made stateside. But as we said, it is now only being assembled in the US.
