After taking a year off, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is back for 2027, and it has a slightly changed selection of models, newer software, and a new Tourer version which makes it even better for road trips.
For 2027, Volkswagen has made the ID. Buzz choices simpler: Pro S RWD, the new Pro S 4Motion, the new Tourer 4Motion, and the top-of-the-line Pro S Plus 4Motion.
The biggest new thing is the ID. Buzz Tourer 4Motion, which gets ideas from Volkswagen’s “Good Night Package” sold in Europe. This new version is very much for people who want to use the electric van for weekend trips and easy camping.
It has a mattress and a base that folds out, window shades, vents for the front windows, as well as a table and chairs for outside. Volkswagen has also included an Overnight Mode in the software that adjusts things inside and outside the car to make staying overnight in it easier.
The Tourer is based on the Pro S 4Motion and also includes a tow hitch that goes away into the body, captain’s chairs, a smart roof which darkens with electricity, an Area View camera system, and 20-inch dark graphite wheels.
All versions will now have Volkswagen’s newest ID.S 6 software, and that means a better Android-based system for getting information and entertainment. The refreshed system has a redesigned navigation start screen for quicker use, and a simpler menu for car settings.
Volkswagen is also adding a new App Store within the vehicle through a free trial of In-Vehicle Premium. You can now get to apps such as YouTube and Spotify right through the car’s entertainment system, without needing to rely on your phone.
Regarding charging and driving, the ID. Buzz now includes an adapter for the North American Charging Standard, so owners can more easily use Tesla’s increasing Supercharger network. Also, Volkswagen has added the ability to drive with just one pedal, letting you do a lot of stopping and starting using mostly the accelerator.
Volkswagen is also making the colors simpler for two-tone paint versions. A new pairing is Candy White over Cherry Red.
