Samsung is increasing the Galaxy S26 series production target for the second time in a row. Needless to say, this indicates that the sales of the phones are actually better than Samsung initially anticipated.
Back in mid-March, Samsung’s plan was to manufacture 2.4 million units of the Galaxy S26 series in April. In April, however, the company raised the production target to 3 million units, after realizing the demand was exceeding expectations.
Samsung keeps underestimating demand for the Galaxy S26 series
The same thing seems to be happening now. In early April, Samsung’s plan was to produce 1.9 million to 2.1 million units of the Galaxy S26 series in May. Well, according to a report from ZDNet, things have changed.
Samsung has now increased its production target from 1.9-2.1 million to 2.4-2.5 million devices. The Galaxy S26 series sales are quite high still. The source did break down what that means for every specific phone in the series.
Samsung is planning to manufacture 1 million units of the base Galaxy S26 model, 200,000 units of the Galaxy S26+, and 1.2-1.3 million units of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The ‘Ultra’ model is still the best-selling one, while the ‘Plus’ model is the least interesting to consumers, by far.
ZDNet notes that an individual from the components market had a comment to share. He said: “It is generally expected that component orders would decrease by now (about two months after the launch of the Galaxy S26 series in March), but order volumes remain steady compared to initial forecasts.”
Consumers are very interested despite the lack of major upgrades
So, while Samsung did not make major upgrades to these devices, especially the base and ‘Plus’ models, consumers are still very much interested in getting the latest from Samsung. So much so that the demand is going well above the company’s expectations.
