After the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Samsung is now pushing out a new update to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro TWS earbuds in May 2026. It is the company’s current flagship model that went official alongside the standard Galaxy Buds 4 and the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year. Much like on the Buds 3 Pro, the main theme here is stability and reliability-related improvements, which should make the listening experience much better.
Galaxy Buds 4 Pro update is reportedly rolling out in the US and Europe
The new May 2026 update to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro weighs 8.55MB in size. It carries the firmware version R640XXU0AZD2 (via Galaxy Updates). This (the firmware version) suggests that the first update to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, which initially rolled out in South Korea towards the end of last month, is now expanding to more global regions, including the US and Europe.
Since the rollout has just started, it should take a few days to hit every unit, depending on the location. If you don’t see an update, you can check for it manually. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, go to Earbuds settings > Earbuds software update > Download and install. Tap on Install now to download and install it on your earbuds, that is, if the update is readily available. Do note that the earbuds may not be available to use during the update installation.

Stability and reliability improvements
As for what’s changing, the changelog section (from the screenshot shared) mentions stability and reliability improvements. It also notes that the device behavior has been improved. We’re not sure what this exactly means, but what’s clear is that there are no new features here.Â
These are the type of changes that may not be obvious to users, but are important for the overall experience. The official changelog points out the same.
