The Huawei Watch Fit 5 series smartwatches were originally announced last month. That was a China launch, however, and we were waiting for their global launch. That’s exactly what happened today.
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro global models are now here. As a reminder, Huawei is the number 1 wrist-worn wearable brand on a global scale, which is saying a lot about the popularity of the company’s smartwatches.
The Huawei Watch Fit series is one of the more popular product lines that Huawei offers. The Huawei Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro do bring some meaningful improvements. Those are not the only products that the company announced today, though.
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 series goes global, along with three other products
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 series is the headline of this launch, but three other devices were announced. Huawei also announced the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition, as well as the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition. Two special editions of already-announced products.
The Huawei MatePad Pro Max was also announced by the company, which is a new tablet in Huawei’s lineup. A huge focus is on the Watch Fit products, but we’ll touch upon others a bit, as Huawei did share some information.
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 series offers a square body with two buttons on the right side, one of which doubles as a rotating crown. The watch is now thinner than the last model and has some new features.
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro comes in Orange, White, and Black colors. Huawei used aerospace-grade nanoceramic metal for premium texture and durability here. The Huawei Watch Fit 5 comes in Silver, Purple, White, Black, and Green colors.
The ‘Pro’ model has a larger display and some other perks
The Huawei Watch Fit 5 features a 1.82-inch display, while the ‘Pro’ model includes a 1.92-inch panel with 2.5D sapphire glass. It has bezels that are only 1.8mm thick, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The refresh rate is adaptive; it goes from 1 to 60Hz.
Huawei included a new workout mode, the Mini-Workout mode, in these watches. The whole point is to stay fit even if you don’t have that much time to work out. It is aimed at busy individuals who have no equipment or designated space required to work out. These are quick workouts to get you going.
Both watches can detect when you’re cycling and display real-time virtual power and cadence. The ‘Pro’ model also offers in-depth support for professional outdoor activities, including Trail Run mode. Golfers can now access vector maps of over 17,000 golf courses as well.
Both smartwatches made a shift from passive health tracking to proactive monitoring, with a focus on cardiovascular and women’s health, and have improved sleep features as well.
They feature a high-silicon battery, which can deliver up to 10 days of battery life under light use, and 7 days under regular use, says Huawei.
A special edition Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 watch is here, along with a diamond watch
The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition was also announced. That variant of the watch is inspired by “the competitive spirit and speed aesthetics.” Huawei says that this is a professional running watch, co-created with marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge.
It comes with a newly introduced single run perforamnce indexa nd a training camp dashboard.
Huawei also announced the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition. It is inspired by the blossoming of sprint, and shown below. The design combines 99 natural diamonds with a diamond-cut sapphire crystal.
