Just as you are hitting the “download” button for One UI 8.5 today, the rumor mill is already skipping two steps ahead. While Samsung is officially focused on getting its latest stable update to existing devices, internal leaks suggest that One UI 9.5 is already in development to debut with the Galaxy S27 lineup.
Galaxy S27’s One UI 9.5 pops out early amid One UI 8.5 rollout
As spotted by tech tipster Erencan Yılmaz, Samsung is preparing One UI 9.5 for its premiere alongside the Galaxy S27 series early next year. If this sounds early, that’s because it is—we are still weeks (or even months) away from even seeing a public beta for One UI 9.

Before we reach the 9.5 milestone, Samsung has a busy year ahead with Android 17-based One UI 9. This version will likely make its first appearance on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. Rumors say the company will launch these phones at an Unpacked event in London this July. Registrations for a public beta program for the Galaxy S26 series could begin shortly after that.
Samsung’s current software roadmap
Samsung seems to have settled into a fixed pattern regarding software launch:
- July 2026: One UI 9 (Android 17) debuts with new foldables.
- Late 2026: A wide rollout of One UI 9 to older eligible models.
- Early 2027: One UI 9.5 debuts with the Galaxy S27 lineup.
- May 2027: One UI 9.5 rollout for more devices begins.
What do we know about the Galaxy S27 lineup?
Although it’s early, we already have leaks related to the upcoming Galaxy S flagship phones. The most interesting rumor is the potential inclusion of a fourth model dubbed the “Galaxy S27 Pro.” Unlike initial ideas for the scrapped Galaxy S26 Pro—which was simply a rebranded Galaxy S26—the S27 Pro would be similar to the S27 Ultra, but without S Pen support.
Plus, the company could redesign the camera module in the S27 model to finally integrate native magnets. Other leaks mention the implementation of UFS 5.0 storage and the Exynos 2700 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chips (depending on the market).
