Samsung’s next smart ring may still be a while away, but the wait could come with meaningful improvements. A recent report suggest the Galaxy Ring 2 is now more likely to arrive in early 2027. This would place it alongside Samsung’s future flagship cycle rather than in a rushed release window.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a relatively long wait for the next generation of the Galaxy Ring 2, though. The latest leak supports those rumors and also additional details about the device.
Galaxy Ring 2 rumors point to upgraded comfort and health monitoring
The most immediate upgrade for the Galaxy Ring 2 appears to be battery life. The current Galaxy Ring lasts up to seven days, but the second version may stretch this figure to around nine or ten days. That may sound like a small change on paper. However, for a wearable designed to stay on the finger all day and night, those extra hours matter. Longer battery life makes the ring easier to forget about, which is usually a good sign for this kind of device.
Samsung also seems to be focusing on comfort. Reports point to a thinner and lighter design, made possible by a revised internal layout. That matters because a smart ring has less room to hide its hardware than a watch does. If Samsung trims the bulk without weakening performance, the new model could feel more natural during sleep, workouts, and long stretches of daily wear.
Health tracking is expected to improve as well, ET News report. Sources say Samsung is working on better skin temperature readings, more accurate sleep analysis, and stronger cardiovascular insights (via SammyGuru). Those upgrades would fit neatly with how people already use smart rings: quietly, passively, and often overnight. Samsung appears to be refining the data monitoring rather than reinventing the category.
Non-invasive blood glucose tracking could be on the list
One feature that remains uncertain is non-invasive blood glucose tracking. Samsung is said to be developing the technology, but it does not look ready for the Galaxy Ring 2 launch window. That keeps expectations realistic. Some health features need more time, more testing, and more regulatory approval before they can move from research to consumer products.
Samsung seems to want the Galaxy Ring line to do more than simply track basics. It looks like the company is trying to turn the ring into a quieter, longer-lasting health companion that works alongside its watches and Samsung Health ecosystem. If that strategy holds, Galaxy Ring 2 may matter less for flashy new features and more for daily integration.
