Samsung’s two upcoming foldable smartphones have appeared in One UI 9, and it’s not the first time. It is the best look that we’ve seen thus far, at least an official one. As a reminder, we already shared CAD-based renders of both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung’s wide book-style foldable.
With that being said, last month, the aspect ratios of both foldable smartphones were spotted in One UI 9. That gave us a great look at the difference in layouts on the two phones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 & Wide Fold have appeared in One UI 9 again
This time around, both phones surfaced in One UI 9 again, though this time we actually get to see their designs shown. These designs are shown below, and they go hand-in-hand with our leaked renders.
The information comes from Android Authority, as the source says that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is codenamed Q8 and the Wide Fold is codenamed H8. Let’s start with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 first, shall we?
That phone, as we already knew, will basically be in line with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in terms of design. Samsung really won’t change much. You can clearly see three vertically-aligned cameras in the top-left corner, and they’ll be placed on top of a camera island. A near 1:1 display aspect ratio is expected.
The company’s wider foldable will offer a notably different form factor
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide aka Wide Fold, well, that’s an entirely different story. That phone will be much shorter and much wider, while it will have two vertically-aligned cameras on the back. They’ll sit in the same spot as on the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Samsung’s new fold variant, the wider one, is expected to have a 4:3 aspect ratio, or something very close to that. That will make the device a lot better for watching horizontal video, and even for multitasking, in a way.
Both of these smartphones are expected to arrive in July this year, during Samsung’s second Unpacked event of the year. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will also launch alongside them.
