Samsung appears to be working on a small but visually striking update for an upcoming major software release. Recent leaks regarding One UI 9 suggest that the media player is getting a makeover, focusing on a more dynamic and immersive user experience.
Samsung’s media player colors sync with your tracks in One UI 9
The latest information comes from some screenshots shared by tech tipsters Tarun Vats and Rajesh Rajput. Their posts on X/Twitter show a media player bar whose colors change according to the track currently playing. Instead of a static color, the bar adapts to the visual style and tones of the album art or track. The UI elements shift their colors in real-time during playback, creating a more fluid and organic look.
There are also a couple of screenshots showing what the media player will look like on the Now Bar.
This might seem like a minor aesthetic tweak. Still, it makes the user experience more dynamic and responsive. This basically gives the impression that the UI reacts to your favorite music. It appears to be part of a trend in the industry where UI elements integrate more organically with what you’re doing at the moment.
Testing for the future
The groundwork for this new software version is already well underway. The first internal builds for the Android 17-based One UI 9 were spotted on Samsung’s servers as early as March. More specifically, these builds were running on the Galaxy S26 series. Since then, we have seen some early versions of the software in leaked videos and screenshots—with Samsung trying to close the tap.
Tarun Vats, one of the sources of these leaks, has a solid track record in the industry. He previously accurately predicted the early release of the One UI 8.0 beta. In the recent past, he also provided correct release dates for both the Galaxy S24 and S25 series. So, the implementation of the new look for the media player in One UI 9 seems practically guaranteed.
