Android Auto enables users to manage calls, media, and a handful of other functions as well. This allows you to focus on the road while driving without having the need to interact with the phone. However, Alarms don’t get the same advantage. You still have to rely on your phone to turn them off/snooze, which sometimes can be distracting. This works against the idea of keeping your eyes on the road. However, it seems that Google may finally fix this gap, so Android Auto users may soon be able to dismiss or snooze the alarm directly from the car dashboard.
Android Auto alarm dismiss fix could be coming soon
Folks at Android Authority, while digging through the Android Auto app version 16.8.161804, have spotted evidence of the fix. In fact, they were able to activate the ability to snooze or dismiss phone alarms directly from the car’s screen. The screenshots show a ‘snooze’ and ‘stop’ button, as on your smartphone, in both a pop-up notification and the notification shade.
It is apparently a long-requested feature from Android Auto users for quite some time. As things stand, the only way to dismiss or snooze your phone’s alarm is to do so on the phone or from a connected smartwatch. It was apparently possible to snooze or stop alarms via Google Assistant. However, Gemini, which has now replaced Assistant, doesn’t support this feature.
It’s not clear when this will roll out
There’s no word on when this fix (or is it a feature?) will come to Android Auto. But just the fact that it was spotted and functional suggests that it may arrive soon. Although we can’t be certain of it yet. If and when it arrives, this will definitely come as a relief for those who have multiple alarms set on their phone.
