It’s official, the iPhone 17 series is Apple’s most popular iPhone series in history. This announcement came as part of Apple’s earnings report, during which the company announced another record-breaking quarter.
Apple says that the iPhone 17 series is “most popular” in history
Unfortunately, Apple did not share any numbers or anything like that. The company simply confirmed that the iPhone 17 broke records, and that’s it. We doubt that Apple will ever share more, but who knows. We presume that ‘most popular’ means ‘best selling’, but we can only guess.
This does not exactly come as a surprise, though. The iPhone 17 is arguably the biggest upgrade for the base iPhone ever, certainly the biggest one in the last x years. The unchanged price tag also played a huge role in the equation.
Apple also announced compelling ‘Pro’ models to go with it, and the affordable iPhone 16e as well, though that one doesn’t count as a member of the iPhone 17 series. There’s plenty to choose from here for Apple users, and good sales were expected. The iPhone 17 is very easy to recommend to Apple users, I’ll say that much.
We’re not sure if the iPhone Air is counted as a member of the iPhone 17 series
As a reminder, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max make up the company’s iPhone 17 series. We’re not sure if the iPhone Air is counted towards it, as it launched alongside those three phones, but it does not have the number ‘17’ in its name.
In any case, later this year, Apple is expected to announce three new phones. Based on rumors, only the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra are coming. In other words, only the ‘Pro’ models and Apple’s first foldable smartphone.
The iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are expected to follow in 2027, at least based on rumors. Apple’s new iPhones are expected to drop in September.
