Some partnerships make things simpler, with cross-app/platform integration. One such partnership was between Samsung and Microsoft. Both tech giants teamed up in August 2020 to enable syncing between Notes and OneNote. This made it easier to access notes across apps and platforms. If you were taking advantage of this feature, there’s bad news. Unfortunately, the Samsung Notes and Microsoft OneNote sync will soon stop working.
Samsung Notes and Microsoft OneNote sync will stop working after July
X user @kro_roe claims that syncing between Samsung Notes and Microsoft OneNote will end in July 2026. Besides that, folks at SamMobile were able to verify the development individually from their end on their Galaxy S26 Ultra. There’s apparently a notification that reads “After July, Samsung Notes will no longer support syncing with OneNote” within the Samsung Notes app.
This is a big change, and what it means is that your notes in Samsung Notes will not appear in Microsoft OneNote, and vice versa, starting from August. This is definitely disappointing news for those who depend on this feature, especially those who use Samsung Notes on their Galaxy phones to create and access notes and Microsoft OneNote on their Windows PC for the same purpose.

No official word from Samsung
Interestingly, besides the app notification, there has been no official communication. Microsoft and Samsung haven’t given out a reason for this drastic step. There haven’t been any signs as well. It’s believed that Samsung wants to reduce reliance on third-party services, possibly in a move to have its own service suite.
Some users seem to believe that this move is to bring back Samsung Cloud. To recall, Samsung discontinued key features of Samsung Cloud, like Gallery Sync and Drive Storage, in 2021. Will this finally pave the way for full-fledged Samsung Cloud? Only time will tell.
