The release of GTA 6 is “on track” according to Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company. It’s worth noting that Zelnick has been confident about the release date for the game before. And following that statement, the game ended up being delayed. So while the game seems likely to finally hit consoles this Fall, it shouldn’t be dismissed that there is still always a small chance of another delay until the game is playable.
In Zelnick’s latest statement, he says that “I think a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19.” For those unaware, November 19 is the confirmed release date for GTA 6 following its delay. It was supposed to release back in the Fall of 2025, and it was then delayed until May 2026. It would be gearing up to release next month. Alas, gamers will have to wait several more months before returning to Vice City. That’s assuming another delay doesn’t surface at the last minute. For what it’s worth, though, even if another delay did happen, it would all be for the better. Rockstar and Take-Two have openly stated that they will not release the game till it’s ready. As they want to live up to the high standards of their fans.
GTA 6 is still on track for a November 19 release date
The thing that GTA fans probably want to focus on here is that Zelnick made this joke at the iicon conference about people calling sick of his own volition, unprompted by a question. While this isn’t a guarantee that there will be no more delays, it does suggest they’re less likely. That’s good news for anyone looking forward to playing the game this Fall.
GTA 6 will be launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with a PC release likely to follow in the years ahead. For context, GTA 5 was released for consoles first, and a PC release came around two years later. So it’s entirely possible that GTA 6 could release on PC within a couple years of the console launch. GTA 6 Online, however, could launch within a month of the game’s release, as this is what Rockstar did with GTA 5.
As for the price of GTA 6, Zelnick doesn’t give a straight answer to what the game will cost. What he does say is that the team is trying to make sure that people feel like what they pay for the game is very reasonable.
