Rowan Digital has been given the greenlight by the Temple City Council to get to work on another data center. The Austin Business Journal reports the site will represent a minimum of $700 million in capital investment, along with the creation of 40 full-time jobs and 500 construction jobs. Earlier this year, the company announced that construction is underway on another 300-megawatt (MW) Temple site, with similar capital and employment figures. The newest site will be its third data center announcement, all told, a $2.1 billion investment.
The newest campus will be located in the Synergy Park industrial site. The property is near Temple’s Panda natural gas power plant, a factor crucial to data center operators given their significant power demands.
On its website, Rowan describes itself as a hyperscale build-to-suit data center developer, stating it leases to companies such as Meta Platforms, Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc.’s Google LLC and Oracle Corp.
