A new OnePlus 16 rumor has just popped up online, and this one seems to detail the phone’s display. The information comes from a well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, so chances are it’s accurate.
The OnePlus 16 could get BOE’s new display with a 240Hz refresh rate & 1mm bezels
According to him, the phone will feature a 6.78-inch LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution. The display will be made by BOE and will use the “Low-Injection Pressure Overmolding” technology. Thanks to that tech, the bezels around it will be only 1mm thick.
This panel will also support the BT.2020 color gamut, and a minimum refresh rate of 185Hz, while the maximum refresh rate could reach 240Hz. For comparison’s sake, the OnePlus 15’s display goes up to 165Hz in terms of refresh rate, for gaming and whatnot.
The tipster did note that the OnePlus 16 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, as expected. That will be Qualcomm’s first 2nm (flagship) processor.
That’s basically all the info that the tipster shared. However, previously leaked info did mention that a new main sensor will be used on the device, while a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera will also be a part of the package.
Previous rumors suggested a monster 9,000mAh battery will also be used
The OnePlus 16 could also see a boost in battery capacity. The device is tipped to get a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. The current-gen model has a 7,300mAh battery, which is an overkill on its own, and a 9,000mAh unit would be class-leading as well, without a doubt.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to arrive in Q4 this year, possibly in October, like its predecessor. We’re still not sure that a global variant will launch, at least not in the US and Europe. Rumors surrounding OnePlus’ closure of business in the US and Europe are getting louder and louder.
We are hoping that the device will reach both of those markets, but it remains to be seen. The OnePlus 15 is available in both the US and Europe, as were its predecessors.
