The OnePlus Ace6 Ultra is finally official having been confirmed by OnePlus itself as one of its next Android phones, and OnePlus has also confirmed the launch date for the phone in China, which is going to be happening on April 28. This follows teasers about the phone a day earlier. As suspected by many, the phone is going to release for Chinese buyers this month, though the phone won’t be coming to the US, and may skip several other regions as well.
A number of OnePlus’ phones have been perfectly capable of good mobile gaming performance, but the OnePlus Ace6 Ultra is being positioned even more for mobile gaming, and that comes through in the phone’s design as well as its add-on accessories, specifically a mobile gaming controller that has a rather unique design to it compared to similar devices.
The OnePlus Ace6 Ultra will launch with a game controller add-on that still lets you use touch controls
If you’re using a mobile game controller, then generally you’re giving up all touch controls and using the built-in physical controls of the controller. This includes joystick for movement, and triggers, bumpers, and action buttons for all other stuff. The controller coming with the OnePlus Ace6 Ultra is a little different.
OnePlus designed it to allow for moving the character and the camera using touch controls, while other actions use physical buttons on the back of the controller. For example, you can move and adjust the aim direction with touch controls in games like Call of Duty: Mobile or Fortnite, while aiming down sights and firing with physical triggers. It’s a unique spin that blends together two different control types for what could be a more accurate way to play.
It’s also entirely possible to continue using claw grip touch controls where you still use four fingers for the screen, and then use the two left and two right buttons on the back with your other fingers. OnePlus doesn’t mention anything about price yet. Nor does it confirm if the controller comes packaged specifically with the phone. Though considering it’s being referred to as an add-on it probably costs extra. The OnePlus Ace6 Ultra is said to come with an 8,500mAh battery inside, as well as a 6.78-inch 165Hz display and a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor.
